About Photoshop Fu

Photoshop Fu author Jon Arnold

In real life, I’m the founder and president of Tuitive, an Indianapolis-based usability and design shop. But building an empire has it’s drawbacks (whole ‘nother blog right there, folks) such as not personally doing the actual creative work anymore. This site is my attempt at keeping my personal creativity from atrophying, pursuing a deeper level of design and photography, and documenting my journey for the edification of my esteemed visitors.

I have a lot to teach

  • I’m an experienced photographer. I’ve learned a lot about composition, a fair amount about cameras, and a little about lighting.
  • I’m stupid-good at Photoshop. Not braggin’. Just sayin’.

I have a lot to learn

  • I’m an experience photographer, not a professional one. Much to learn I have.
  • My Photoshop superpowers have contributed to sloppy photo habbits. Time to get serious about photography and lighting and get better images to start with.

My photography philosophy in a nutshell

  1. There are rules to great design, even if the idea is to purposely break them.
  2. The best camera cannot take a great photo for you, and Photoshop cannot turn a lousy photo into a great one.
  3. Your greatest tools are a creative mind and a discerning eye. Invest in them above all other “equipment.”

Why Photoshop Fu?

I like thinking of photography, design, and image editing as analogous to a martial art. On one hand it denotes honing formidable skills, but on the other hand it denotes discipline, humility, and learning from “experts” and fellow practitioners. Plus, come on…a martial art metaphor is just plain awesome.

I hope you’ll stick around, stay connected (Email, RSS, Twitter) and contribute to the discussion.

Thanks for visiting Photoshop Fu!

Jon
